About Us
Calvin’s Classic Plans Dear Fellow Modeler: In the summer of 2004 I had the opportunity to acquire the plans service of Vince Miller. Vince used to advertise in Model Builder magazine but quit offering his plans due to failing health. I thought it would be a shame for Vince’s plans to disappear from our hobby/sport, so it is my pleasure to offer them to you again under a new name. That is how Calvin’s Classic Plans came into being. As part of my business plan I hope to keep not only Vince Miller’s plans available, but acquire other plans services if they become available in the future. I believe there are enough of us senior modelers still around to justify this effort. There is much to recommend preserving the historic elements of model building that people like Vince Miller provided us. Respectfully, Susan Calvin

I hope you find something you like in the selection of plans currently offered. I now have the ¼ scale Tri-Pacer plan updated and available, as well as the Nesmith Cougar. I also have the Bud Atkinson Flut-R-Bug plan as well as the original Ugly Stick. Also, as all of my plans have been digitized, I can easily make enlargements/reductions to suite your size preferences. Keep in mind that you will have to ignore references to dimensions shown on the plan, and you will have to make your own cowl. Email me with your requests and I will work with you to supply your request.
I have the molds for the fiberglass cowlings you will need when you build a model from one of my plans. My supplier makes them with a white gelcote finish which makes preparation for painting easier. Because they are made with fiberglass matt, they are a little heavier than glass cloth cowls. The upside is that they are not “see through” and don’t require so much lead weight in the nose for those of us who build “tail heavy.” However, if you prefer glass cloth cowls, I can have them made that way. Just allow a little lead time so my supplier can make them up.
If any of you have plans that you would like to make a part of my plans service, or if you become aware of a plans service that needs a new life, let me know. If you like my plans please tell your friends, and when you build a model from one of my plans please send me a picture. I may use it in a future brochure.
Thank you for your interest in my plans service. I look forward to your business.
